1972... I was just turning six and I was in the first grade at Holy Family school in Union City, New Jersey. I was a narrator for the class play, along with Michelle Burke, probably because we were the best readers in the class. Sister Moira was our teacher, and I remember we had to wear ties and uniforms to school. It was the early 1970's and I was oblivious to all of the social changes taking place, and all of the really cool cars that were being made in Detroit. My Dad, I remember, had a Galaxy 500. It was teal, and a vast improvement over the 1950's era Ford Fairlane he had owned just the year before. He got rid of it after the back door flew open around a turn and I nearly fell out. My sister saved me that day by grabbing a hold of me as I slowly slid toward the open door. There were no seat belts in those old cars! By the way, Thanks Michelle! A little late, but better late than never! Anyway, I bring that up to tell you what I was doing at that time. Half a continent a way, in Detroit, a new Buick Centurion convertible was rolling off of the production line. It was one of only 2,396 Centurion convertibles produced that year. Over the years, the car has had three owners and racked up about 89,000 miles on its odometer. I am now its fourth owner.
All in all, the car has been taken care of very well over the years. The last owner had the interior redone in leather (an option that was not available for the car in 1972) and also did work on the brakes and exhaust. New tires and rims have also been placed on the car, and the convertible top had been replaced within the last ten years or so. Currently, I am changing out the exhaust manifolds and the battery cables. The exhaust manifolds had a hole that made the engine louder than it should be. Given the age of the engine, they do not make replacement parts for the vehicle, so I had to hunt down used parts through eBay and classic car sites. The parts were available and I am currently waiting for them to arrive by UPS.
In the Spring, I am planning to have the car repainted, and possibly change the convertible top from its current black to white to match the interior. I have always wanted a classic car, and I am thinking of having this one painted like a Hot Wheel! We have a local car show that runs every Wednesday night during the summer, and I am looking forward to showing off my treasure next season. All said, I am really excited about my classic muscle car. Looking ahead, I will update you on my progress with the car from time to time.

Four days ago I got a toy snail named Scooter. My Aunt and Uncle gave her to me. Scooter is pink with big green eyes. She has a purple shell. She also has purple antennas.
I've slept with her two times already. By the way, Scooter's shell is sparkly. Her skin is too. Same with her antennas. I like to play with Scooter. Ashleigh I do a lot of cool tricks with my Skateboard. I already know how to move except for on wood. That, I am still working on. I know how to turn as well. Sometimes I do it wrong, and the board flies away from me when I jump off.
My skateboard is blue and has a starry pattern on it. It is blue and black and looks like the universe. The wheels are blue also. I love playing with my skateboard. Ashleigh I have a big Dinosaur. It is blue, it has no teeth, but it has very sharp claws. It has a long tail and a very small head but a big body. Now we are going to be talking about my Pterydactyl. My Pterydactel is gold it as curvy wings and there is little red spots at the end of the wing.
Ashleigh Guess what! I finally signed up to be a doctor! I'm just pretending, but I have some of the things a real doctor might use. They are only toys, though.
There is more good news too. My Grandma gave me three of her old medicine cups. I have a lot of old pony-tail holders that had two small balls on each one. So I cut the elastic so the little balls would fall off. Some where green, some where pink, some had stripes. A couple even had stars. I used them for toy medicines to fill the cups. Ashleigh (editor's note: This was originally written on 10/21. I have been swamped at work, though, and this was the first chance I had to post it for Ashleigh.) Today we are going to talk about my toy, Cotton Candy.' We are not going to talk about a book! We are going to talk about my toy. Now the name may sound like real cotton candy, but it's not! Oh and by the way, I don't think i told you, but Cotton Candy has pink eyes. And she has purple, pink blue, and white fur. Oh, and there is one more thing: Cotton Candy is a stuffed animal horse!
Ashleigh I like Monster Highs. My favorite Monster High is Laguna Blue, but everyone just calls her Laguna. She can go under water and she has fins Just like any Fish. She is just a toy But in Movies she has and dose all of these things.
Ashleigh I like to play with my balloon. My balloon is pink and medium sized. It has a point on the top. Daddy and I play with it a lot. We tap it to each other in the air. We play for 8 minutes.
Ashleigh My Beach ball is tiny. It has 4 colors, orange, pink, my favorite color, blue, and white. I do not take it to the beach because it is too easy to lose. I like to play with it, I kick it. I also run up and then I jump on it! Some times, I run and kick the ball too.
Ahsleigh I have lots of toys. I have names for all of my toys. One of them is Tasha, she is a leopard. Then their is sequin, she is a dog. She is white and brown. Duke is a dog and he is Tasha's boyfriend. Pepper is a cat, who has a boyfriend called Spot. He is a dog. Star is a baby dragon. She is blue with a star on her foot. Snow is a husky. He runs really fast in the snow. Willie is a puppy. He is only 3 months old. Lilly is a puppy too. She is so tiny that you can hardly see her in the picture.
Ashleigh Today I'm going to talk about Legos. I have a big set of legos. My dad and i play with them a lot. One time dad and I built the highest tower ever! It was taller then me! In fact it was taller than my sister. What fun we had!
Ashleigh Today I'm writing about my Bouncy Ball. I sit on it and bounce on the ball all around the house, kitchen and living room. I play with Dad by rolling it to him. Oh what great fun we have.
Ashleigh Today I want to write about beading. Last week, my Aunt Michelle sent me a beading
set. I have made necklaces for the entire family. To make them you need to put beads on a string. The beads are all different so I can make many designs. After putting the beads on the string, I tie a knot to keep them in place. Ashleigh I play Legos every day. I like to build little farms and cages. There are little cars too.
We build little houses and planes. We have lots of fun playing Legos. Ashleigh I have a set of dolls called Monster High dolls. They are monsters, but they are nice
monsters. My favorite doll is the daughter of Mothra. She has wings and is very pretty. I also have Draculaura, Rebecca Steam, Claudine Wolf and the daughter of the Rat King. They are very fun to play with. Ashleigh I have a toy called a slinky. It is a fun toy! It is my Dad's favorite color; green. I like to roll
it on the table and stretch it. I also like to put it on my nose. There is a lot to do with a slinky! Ashleigh |
