I was actually introduced to Wordsworth in my English 1 class. I had to do an analysis of his poem 'I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud', which I found to be strange yet quite enjoyable. I do love metaphors; and the poem contained a bunch of them. Analyzing it was fun for me and it opened up my curiosity to a new poet who I hadn't heard of before. I recommend reading at LEAST 'I Wandered Lonely As A Cloud', just to see what you make of it. In fact, if you do read it, please leave me a comment giving me your interpretation of it! I'd be curious to see if anyone else saw it the way I did.

I've only read a few poems from Edgar Allen Poe- but what I did read, I recall enjoying. I believe he's another poet who I analyzed in a school assignment for my dad. Regardless, I think that reading some of his poetry is a good idea for anyone who's looking to broaden their horizons a little. He's a classic poet whose work is still appreciated to this day- and that has to stand for something, doesn't it? In any case, this post isn't meant to focus on his poetry so I'll move off of it. Let's get into some quotes!

Frost is one of the first poets I ever read at my dad's request and he's the poet who truly got me into reading poetry and not just writing it. 'The Road Not Taken' is the first poem I read and to this day I believe it to be one of the best poems I've read. I highly recommend giving Frost a read, and if not hi other work; at least The Road Not Taken.

So After that I said would you like to have a sleep over in my room tonight. And she still said yes. So the next morning I asked maddie if she would like to eat with me. And she said yes. So after that we colored a pretty picture, and had a happy day. Ashleigh Tortoises and Turtles don't have teeth. But they do have sharp edges and jaws. This helps tortoises and Turtles eat when they are hungry. A Desert Tortoise lives on land, and eats wildflower, grasses and cactus's.
The sea turtle likes to live in the ocean. As soon as it hatches it is ready to swim! Sea turtles have flippers for swimming, They have lungs just like us. They can swim under water for a long time. Box turtles have shells with hinges that allow the turtles to pull their heads, tails, and legs inside and then close their shells up. Their shells protect from predators and harm. Their favorite food is berries, seeds, and worms. Ashleigh Bronte is both a poet and an author! In fact, I've read one of her books before for schooling- Jane Eyre. It wasn't one of my favorites and I must say that I've found her poetry much more likable. She comes from a family of writers, with her sister Emily Bronte being renowned for the book Wuthering Heights. I believe I've also read that, and didn't enjoy that any much more that Jane Eyre. Ah well. At least her poetry is good. While I don't appreciate it as much as I do Shakespeare or Dickinson, I'd still recommend giving her a read just for the exposure. But this blog post isn't about poetry- it's about quotes and unearthing the wisdom behind poets/authors.

Carrying on my theme from last week, I think I'm going to write a few more posts exhibiting the quotes of poets this week! So often I think good quotes go overlooked because these people are known only for their beautiful poetry, and not for the wisdom they also possessed. Don't get me wrong- their wisdom shows through in their poetry as well. You know what I mean. There were more layers to who they were than what most people choose to appreciate. Since that's the case; I've decided to go and dig through the quotes of Emily Dickinson first.
I remember reading some of Dickinson's poetry a couple of years ago and analyzing it as a school project for my dad- I also remember deeply enjoying it. She's a wonderful poet who I strongly recommend to anyone taking the time to read this post. Enough rambling, though- let's get into some quotes! Today I read a new book called ''Arthur's Camp-Out.'' One day a boy named Arthur was lying on the grass in his yard. His Mother, and Father were on vacation. Violet his sister was picking dandelions and then she helped him clean the yard. A little later Arthur asked her to go on a field trip. to find specimens.
But Violet's two friends Wilma, and her big Sister Mabel came down the road to ask her to go on a camp-out. Violet went with them. So Arthur went into the woods to collect specimens and to camp-out by himself. Trying to catch a frog he fell in a pond. His clothes, were wet and every thing else! It was getting dark and he was tired hungry and wet. But a little later he could smell ''HOT DOGS!'' He followed the smell and found the girls. They gave him a hot dog. In the Morning they went home to a nice breakfast of pancakes. Ashleigh Shockingly, I don't think I've written a post about this yet! I loved reading Shakespeare's sonnets when I was younger, and I particularly enjoyed analyzing them. While I have no clue where the files are now, I did want to re-visit Shakespeare a bit and take my readers with me. I already let out my long rant for the day- it's titled 'The Election' if you care to read it. Nothing too offensive, don't worry! That being said, here are some Shakespeare quotes for you to think about throughout your day.

If you've never read Shakespeare, particularly his sonnets, I'd recommend that you do so. It seems they're slightly under-rated in this generation and I don't think that anyone should miss out on reading anything from this wonderful poet and playwright. - Maddie " I'm not one for politics, so I'll keep this post short. I just figured I'd throw my two cents in on everything that has happened in the past few days.
I'll admit, I haven't been paying much attention to the stuff leading up to the election this year. I knew that like almost every year, both candidates were crummy and didn't offer much to our country that we don't already have. Lies and corruption that I have no control over? No thanks, pass. I had better things to spend my time worrying about- such as homework assignments and keeping up with my grades. But now that we have President Trump... the country seems to have gone beserk! Rioting and highways being closed off, cars being crashed, buildings being torched down in protest... that's no longer protest folks, that's straight up illegal. While none of this is amusing in any way, I do find it funny that these "protests" are being instigated by the very same group of people who love to call out Trump supporters for being hateful and bigoted. The same people who were so scared of a Trump presidency because of the hate crimes they thought would ensue.... The only hate crimes I'm seeing are against Trump and anyone who voted for him. I see my friends getting into full-blown arguments on Facebook because of their views and such things as "If you voted for anyone but Hillary, please explain to your female, LGBT, Muslim, etc. etc. friends why you don't care about their rights" and nothing pisses me off more. For God's sake, who you vote for does not define you as a person! Everyone has flown off the hook and forgotten that the same kindhearted person they are friends with is still that same person, no matter which way they voted. I think that's the bottom line here- people need to remember that elections don't define people. The way you react to things not going your way, however... that WILL define you, and your maturity level. There is an old saying that "You learn something new every day!". Well, lately I have been learning how to use memes. If you have never heard of them, they are pictures that people have placed words over to make the pictures funny. The younger generations seem to use these to communicate and make each other laugh. I am still learning how to use them, and Maddie tells me A. I am not very funny B. I do not know how to use them properly. C. Please stop. Well, I find them easy to make, and kind of amusing, so I have taken up making them in my spare time. Sometimes I use them on Facebook, or post them on Imgur. Other times I just send them to Maddie to make her smile. The picture above is actually a meme. I took a picture from Monty Python's Flying Circus and added a well known saying from the show. I place it at the top of my post, because this is a subject that I usually don't write about. Those who have watched Monty Python, might see it and get it. Others, not so much. But I digress! Below are pictures of some of my memes and I will try to explain how I used them. The first example is likely one of my better uses. I used it in a message with Maddie on Facebook Messenger. The conversation started normal enough. Maddie: Hey Dad, I have a question. Dad: Maddie: Can I go over to Seth's..? I'd be able to get a ride back and at this rate it may be easier since it's later. I don't think grandma would have a problem dropping me off. Dad: No. Maddie: Aw, Why? :( Dad: Maddie: I know Well bring you some back XD Maddie: Well? Dad: Maddie: Yes way.... But why can't I? Dad: (At this point, I was only playing with her. The real conversation ended with no. We both knew it. Now I was just practicing making memes quickly and trying to stay on topic. But she kept trying none the less.) Maddie: But it makes more sense and it'd save time XD Maddie: So why not? Dad: Maddie: Dad :) :) :) Dad: Maddie: Oh my God! I get it. :) :) :) Dad: Maddie actually liked this exchange and was laughing about it. It is now one in the morning, so I will just place a few more for you to look at. Polar bears eat meat. They are very good at hunting for food. Here is one reason why. There fur acts as a little thing we call camouflage. It blends in with the ice, and snow in the arctic, and helps them sneak up on other animals.
Here are two of the foods that polar bears like best. fish, and seals. One time Daddy saw a bear when he was fishing. It was not a polar bear though. But What ever kind it was I was glad I was not there. Ashleigh Today I read a new book called ''Julius''. One day, a boy named Davy was in Africa with his dad who was looking for a Gorilla. So a little later it was time to rest. But Davy could not sleep he was too excited. He found a coconut and kicked it into the bushes.
But someone kicked it back. It was a Gorilla named Julius. So when he told his dad they got him on a ship. On the ship Julius made lots of friends. And when he was resting on the ship deck, a man said ''I want a fur blanket too''. So a little later the trip was over and he made it to the circus. On his first day, his cage was surrounded by people. But a fly landed on his nose, and he jumped to scare it and it scared the people too. So the circus man told Julius to go and tell the people to come back. But Julius got lost. So the circus people had to go and look for him. But they could not find him. So they went to Davy's and he found him by throwing his football into the bushes.. Ashleigh A smile can go a long way- I think I've realized that today. Today is a stressful day for people- it's Election Day and all of my friends are on edge even though they have no say in what happens. My personal opinion on the elections is that at this rate; our country has already been in the toilet and this election won't change that one way or another. If anything, things will get worse. In any case, that's not what this post is about.
I'm writing this as I sit in the car on the way home from the grocery store. The grocery store was pretty packed today and almost everyone looked like they were upset- workers included. This struck me as unusual; since most of the time the workers at this particular store have a cheery disposition. After about 5 minutes of walking through the clusters of people in the aisles, I decided to make it my mission to smile at anyone who looked particularly unhappy and see if I could make a difference. I tried this for the rest of the time at the store and actually succeeded in making a few people smile back at me. I just can't believe we've gotten to a time where people won't reciprocate smiles. If a random stranger is taking time out of their day to smile at you- you could at least somewhat acknowledge their effort. That being said, I do recommend smiling at strangers. You never know the impact something so small could have on someone's outlook for the day. An example of this? I had mild anxiety in the store due to the amount of people, so in the beginning I imagine i didn't look too happy myself. However, 3 people complimented my hair and it really made me smile- particularly since I put a lot of effort into making my hair look nice. It's the little things, folks. - maddie Sometimes my Grandma says to my dad ''can you make a sandwich''? He will say okay, and then I help him. I make the sandwich for him, and then Daddy cuts it in half for my Grandma. I put it on a plate and my dad makes a cup of coffee. Then I take the meal on a tray to my Grandma.
After she ate it all, I play ''GO FISH'' with her. Maddie and I sometimes eat hot dogs. Then we play Call of Duty with my Dad. Later on, we rest and eat dinner. It is usually not sandwiches! Ashleigh I just finished reading a post my dad recently wrote about teaching your children- while also teaching yourself. I liked it a lot because he's absolutely right- a lot of who I am is based off of who he is since he's the most influential person in my life. In fact, most of my personality surrounds how I've been raised and I wanted to take this post to bullet point the things that make me who I am- that I've inherited from my dad.
* My sense of humor. While my dad does tend to lean more on puns and movie lines than I do, the distorted reflection has left me with quoting Internet memes to amuse my friends and dry sarcasm paired with strong opinions. * Logic. Oh god, logic. Something I didn't fully grasp and still wouldn't say I've entirely grasped until recently, but a vital piece of my personality that my dad taught me. However, I am more emotional than my dad since if someone fails to see logic the first time; I get annoyed. * Peace over power. While primarily taught by karate, my dad has really instilled this little saying into me so that it is a part of who I am. As a martial artist you are taught to never start fights, only finish them- and I try to apply this mantra wherever I can in my life. * It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder... essentially, raise your words and not your voice. Volume will not win you any arguments, so it's better to avoid yelling altogether. While I'm still struggling a little with this; for the most part I'm level headed when it comes to arguing. * It's the little things that count. This needs no elaboration really... it is what it is. My dad has given me a deep appreciation for the small things in life, particularly in nature. * Noticing everything. I'm extremely observant, something I've learned from my dad over time. Going back to humor, most of my dad's revolves around noticing things going on around him and turning them into jokes. To understand his humor, I learned to be observant and it now aids me in my humor as well. * "Colorful" language... my dad mentioned this in his post, but my language is also inherited from him. Can't be from anywhere else really; everyone else in my family is against it! While I know there are far more ways I'm similar to my dad; these are some of the main ones. I've also inherited an awesome taste in music from my dad- something that didn't need to be on the bullet list, but that I definitely appreciate! It's nice to have a dad who enjoys heavy metal concerts as much as I do. Thank you dad- for everything. - maddie In the morning I get out of bed, go downstairs, and eat breakfast. Then I go upstairs and get dressed. Later, I go downstairs again and do my IXL. I'll eat lunch, play, do my blog, and do my math too. Then we eat dinner. After dinner, I play Xbox with Maddie and Daddy before I go to bed. In the morning, I do the same things all over again.
On Saturdays I do different things. I go to the movies with Daddy on Saturday. I color and do other things like that. Sometimes, I even help my Grandma make dinner. She likes to play ''GO FISH'' with me. And the last time we played she won five times! Asheigh Last night it hit me how much getting older sucks. Cheap words coming from a 15 year old, right? Just hear me out. I was standing outside with my dad and I glanced up at the stars (I promise, no more quotes from earlier) and I realized that I didn't have the time to sit and gaze at them without feeling like I was falling behind my own schedule. Lately, I've felt quite overwhelmed... even though I suppose I shouldn't.
I'm balancing a relationship, 3 classes (one of which is a college course) all on an accelerated pace, karate, practicing technique, kickboxing, and that's before you add in all the errands I run with my family AND the time I take to help my friends along with spending time with my dad and sister. Oh, and let's not forget church and the time I spend hiking and relaxing myself so I don't go insane. I know this sounds like a lot of complaining, but it's not, trust me. If I wasn't satisfied with my life I would be making the necessary changes (to my ability at least). No, I'm very happy with my life... I just wished there was more time. More time to relax, more time to enjoy the little things in life. I wish I had the time to properly spend a few hours with my sister. I wish I had the time to relax outside and stargaze. I wish I had the time to hike for awhile. I wish that I could balance everything out perfectly; so I didn't feel as though my schedule is constantly full... because while I'm happy, that's how I feel. It's a struggle. And I feel bad for not being as available to help people. I feel bad for not having the time because sometimes I forget that it's not my responsibility to keep everyone happy; try as I may. I think that sometimes, I need to step back and realize that I need to be keeping myself happy, too. Because at the end of the day, when I die I'll be dying for myself and no one else- and I'd rather have a life of happiness behind me. "Time is free, but it is priceless. His family found him very handy, though.He could hold tools on his belly, and he could be useful as a practice mat, too.
One day, a message was delivered and when Arthur heard this he told mom. "Hey Mom" he said, "Guess who is going to the firehouse this Saturday?" Let me guess, said Mr.s Lambchop. "Us!" she said. "Yes!" he said. So on Saturday the Lambchops drove to the firehouse. And they saw all that they wanted to see. One of the fire fighters then said that a cat is up a tree.
