Salamanders are amphibians that live in water and on land. Some salamanders are poisonous. Salamanders live any place that is not too dry and not too cold. That includes most of North America, south of the Artic Circle, Central America, tropical South America , most of Europe, and much of Asia. Salamander's eat insects and spiders.
Salamanders get their poison from the poison in the bugs they eat. Which is a lot of poison. Ashleigh

Today I read a new book called ''Magic Tree House Summer of the Sea Serpent.'' One day jack and Annie went to the tree house. They had to go to the time before Camelot to get the Sword of Light. Their mission was very scary. They had to find a Water Knight, a Spider Queen, a Old gray ghost that was some really thick fog, and a Sea Serpent.
Though all of the scary stuff actually helped them. On the way they met a girl named Kathleen. Kathleen was nice, and made them into seals so they could go in the water. Finally they found the sword of Light in a hole in the water. Then they found the guy named Merlin and gave it to him. Ashleigh Snakes are carnivores. Which means they only eat meat. Some snakes swallow their food whole. Large snakes will strangle their prey to death and then swallow it whole. Some snakes like cobras and vipers use venom to hunt.
Snakes live in almost every corner of the world. They are found in forests, deserts, swamps and grasslands. Snakes do not like the cold. This is because they are cold blooded. Snakes can eat animals, but that doesn't mean they can't eat you. Ashleigh I found this prompt online, and though it seems to just be a simple list... I feel as though it'll be harder to write than most people think. I'm choosing to write it because I think it's a good exercise for self-examination, and I think it'll give me a lot about myself to think about to come up with a full 45. I encourage my dad (and my sister) to join me in this prompt, more-so than other prompts, because I believe this is an excellent exercise. If any of our readers wants to participate, please leave me a comment.
45 Things I'll Never Do
- Maddie Today I read a new book called Balto of the Blue Dawn.'' One afternoon jack and Annie where talking about dogs on the way to the magic tree house. They had to go to Alaska. When they got there they found a city that was called Nome. A Nome hospital had a couple people.
One of the people was named Oki. He was waiting for his sister, mom to be better. Then he jack and Annie heard that a blizzard was coming. Oki told his grandfather named Joe. It was not allowed. Then jack and Annie asked if they could go. Before they new it they where outside and on joe's dogsled. The huskies ran, and ran, and ran until they heard bells. In the snowy light a black and white dog with a dogsled rushed toward them. It was Balto, and his owner. Then they rushed back to Nome and go everyone well again. Ashleigh Alright, I'm back to finish off yesterday's 30 prompts! Let's get right into it.
- Maddie Bears are meat eating mammals. Black bears are found in every part of North America. Polar bears live on the north pole. Brown bears live in North America, Asia, and Europe. Brown bears are one of the largest bear species. Brown bears are even larger than black bears.
Its fur is from dark to reddish brown to cream toned. Black bears are one of the more common species in North America. They live in many different habitats, and are not picky about what they eat. Their smell gives them much information about the foods they are going to eat. Polar bears live in the Arctic territories of North America and Eurasia. Their habitat includes both land and sea ice. Often polar bears live on ice and drift from one area to another. Polar bears eat fish, and seals. Ashleigh This is another prompt challenge that I found online. It's meant to be done over the course of an entire month, but in the words of my dad's favorite meme: "ain't nobody got time for that"! I'll do the first 15 in this post (since I'm trying to keep my answers semi-lengthy) and the second 15 in a separate post, to prevent things from getting too lengthy. As always, my dad and sister are welcome to follow these prompts with me.
- Maddie Frogs are amphibians that live on every content except for Africa and Antarctica. Frogs are cold-blooded and love to eat bugs. Frogs are fun to look at, but don't get to close, you never know which one is poisonous. The Poison-Dort-frog is really poisonous. Don't touch him or you will be poisoned.
Tree frogs have things that look like suction cups on there fingers which helps them climb trees. Tree frogs and all the other frogs can jump really high. Tree frogs spend most of the time in trees. Tree frogs have blood red eyes. They also have a very long tongue. Ashleigh My dad gave me a prompt idea the other day, and I thought I'd run with it. The idea is to pull lines from various different songs, and create your own meaningful song using the lyrics that mean something to you from other songs. I decided to take a twist on that idea, and instead write (and then explain) a poem. Ground rules are that everything within the poem must be lyrics. I'll list the songs I used at the end of the post. Tell me pretty lies, look me in the face Tell me that you love me, even if it's fake We live in the rain, a sea of change You can't keep anything you take But if I could wish for one thing, I'd go back and I'd fix it I've got a box of memories, but I'm scared to open it Disappointment is cruel but hope can be crueler, When life is gone without a trace All our gods have abandoned us And hope is lost in time's embrace I'm stuck sitting in this time frame Knowing there's none to blame I painted a picture of a day gone past Everything is different now, nothing is the same Don't know how much time has passed Come and take me off my daily dose of pain We live our lives mostly pretending And if it meant the end of me, I'd do it all for you so you could have your happy ending. I don't quite know the meaning of my own poem at this rate. It took me awhile to write, and I do love the result- but I think it's something that needs time before finding a comprehensive meaning. It's about sadness and loss at the core, but also about coming to terms with life as it happens. Ironically enough, none of the songs I used were really about coming to terms with life- in fact, they were more about how life can drag you down. I'm glad that I was able to turn the lyrics around into my own version of writing that's a little bit better.
I tried my best with this prompt, though I doubt this poem was what my dad expected to come from his prompt. I look forward to reading his, and seeing the differences in our perspectives when listening to lyrics. - Maddie Songs used: Black Dahlia - Angel Haze Under A Very Black Sky - Sick Puppies My Therapy - Kamelot Through The Glass - Stone Sour Nihilist - Architects If Tomorrow Came - Kamelot Eon - Celldweller Sky - Ra IDFC - Blackbear I'll Be Ok - Nothing More Miss You - NF Lions are mammals that live in Africa. Lions eat meat which means they are predators. Male lions have a manes, girls do not. When baby boys are born they need to grow to get there mane. The dad lions don't hunt much, the moms do most of the hunting.
Lions eat large animals like zebras, and wildebeest. They also eat smaller animals. At 3 to 4 years old, males and females are ready to mate. She will give birth to her young babies away from others and hide the cubs for the first six weeks of their lives. So don't try to take there cubs, or you will become there lunch. Ashleigh Today I read a new book called '' Magic Tree house Danger in the Darkest hour''. One day Jack and Annie went to world war 2 to rescue a little girl named Kathleen. A boy named Teddy took them to world war 2 when they arrived from the magic tree house. They met a guy and girl named Gaston and Suzette on way to look for Kathleen. Finally they found a cave with Kathleen and 10 little children singing twinkle-twinkle-little-star.
Kathleen told them that she was hiding the 10 children from the Nazis. Jack told them bombs are going to drop and they need to go. Kathleen found a truck and Jack drove it to the spot Teddy landed the plane. Soon Teddy brought a new plane and they flew to a safe spot. Then Kathleen and the children said goodbye to Jack and Annie as they when home it the magic tree house. Ashleigh I found yet another inspiring prompt today- in list form. The prompt asks that you make two lists- a list of facts about yourself, and a list of perceptions you know that other people have about you. To finish this prompt, you have to write a paragraph comparing and contrasting the two lists, and stating why you believe people have the thoughts they do of you. Below are mine.
I'll admit, some of the assumptions I've heard people make about me are insane. However, I think I can clear most of them up. Many people take me as bitter/aggressive/intimidating because when I'm out in public, I tend to have a chronic case of Resting Bitch Face. Unless you catch me when I'm with my friends or laughing, it can be very easy to mistake me for a grumpy person. As for me smoking weed? I guess I look the part, I don't know. I'm very open-minded and I'm naturally a deep thinker, so maybe people incorrectly put two and two together. Many people my age smoke in the area I live in, so I guess it's easy to stereotype and categorize.
Those were the main two that I really wanted to clear up. Looking at someone, it's very hard to tell if they want to go to college or not, or what they want to do with their life. I have a friend working at McDonald's who wants to go to college for mechanical engineering. I feel like this prompt is a good eye-opener for those who judge books by their cover; sometimes things truly are not what they seem. A lot can be hidden by a messy haircut, a pretty smile, or a face full of makeup... or any other trait that people use to judge others. - Maddie I believe that this is a question that many could learn from, if it were asked often enough. Many people learn lessons yearly, but seldom take the time to look back on what they've learned and reflect on it, so that it may help them in the future. The lesson I have learned in the past year is quite important to me, so I'd like to share it with my readers in hopes that they can learn from it as well. As always, my sister and my dad are challenged to follow this prompt as well.
The most important lesson that I've learned this year is that if someone is bringing negativity to my life... I have the power to remove them from my life. In the past, I'll admit that I've let toxic and negative people stay in my life far longer than they should have for the fear of hurting them. I always fear hurting others, or being perceived as mean. It goes hand in hand with my over-forgiveness. It's taken me a long time to realize this, but I finally have: if someone is mistreating me, and clearly not caring about hurting me... why should I care about hurting them? Besides, when I do finally cut people out of my life, I try to not burn bridges. In a metaphorical sense, rather, I let the bridge become abandoned and decay from a lack of upkeep. I try not to machete people out of my life, though I unfortunately had to recently due to a rather extreme situation. The bottom line is that if someone is bringing negativity to your life, you have every right to remove them from it. No one has a RIGHT to be in your life, and particularly not if they're going to treat you with disrespect. I think a good point from this lesson is knowing that you really don't owe anyone anything if you remove them from your life. If they've continually mistreated you, you don't owe them an explanation for why they're no longer in your life. Their own actions should tell them that. The last thing you owe them is an apology. Forgiveness and apologizing are two entirely different things- don't say sorry for the consequence of someone else's mistakes. - Maddie Jackals are part of the wolf family. Jackals are very similar to wolfs. Their ears are alike, their tails are alike, even their pups are alike except for their color. Jackals live in open savannas, deserts, and grasslands. Most jackals are found in Africa and Asia.
There are four species of jackals: the golden jackal, the side-striped jackal, the black-backed jackal and the Ethiopian wolf jackal. Jackals can change their diet depending on available food. They mostly eat insects, berries, and small mammals like rodents, but will sometimes form a pack to hunt larger prey. They are mistaken for eating mostly carrion, which is actually only a small portion of their diet. Ashleigh I was reading more writing prompts today, and I came across an interesting one. The site said to write about what you believed to be your three greatest accomplishments. I found this to be a good idea, so I decided to write about it and as always, I challenge my dad and sister to follow this prompt with me. Below are what I consider to be my greatest accomplishments.
- Maddie Today I read a new book called Cupid Doesn't flip Hamburgers.'' One day a new chef named Mrs. Rosenbloom. A boy named Eddie thought she was putting a love potion on the cookies she was handing out. She was. Soon it turned into a war.
Even Eddie's friends named Carey, Liza, and Melody where having a war over Howie. Howie, and Eddie made a potion that made everyone back to normal. It worked. Eddie's friends stopped yelling. Ashleigh Today I read a new book called Magic Tree House Night of the Ninth Dragon.'' One cold night Jack, and Annie where taken to the magic tree house by there new puppy to go to recuse the king that was in Camelot. To recuse the king they had to find a golden dragon. A girl named Cafelle gave them magic rocks before they left. Before they got to the gold dragon sum guys saw them.
Annie marked her face with a marker so they fought she was sick. They soon found out that the golden dragon was under a waterfall. It was very hard to see in the dark light. Soon they found it. When they got back the king was so weak he could not even stand. Finally jack remembered the magic rocks and used those. It worked. When they returned the gold dragon they went home to play with there brand new puppy. Ashleigh Giraffes can eat hundreds of pounds of leaves per week. Giraffes are herbivores, which means they only eat plants. Their long necks allow them to reach leaves, buds, and branches. Giraffes are the world's tallest mammals in the world. Their legs and feet can grow up to 6 feet long. These long legs allow giraffes to run as fast as 35 miles an hour over short distances. The giraffe's height also helps it to keep a sharp lookout for predators across the wide grasslands of the African savanna. To drink giraffes have to bend down and spread its legs because their neck is so long . Female giraffes give birth standing up. Their young babies welcome into the world by falling more than 5 feet to the ground at birth. The babies can stand in half an hour and run with their mothers ten hours after birth. A giraffe eats hundreds of pounds of leaves each week and must travel miles to find enough food. Lions stay away from giraffes because giraffes have a very powerful kick. Ashleigh Alright, I'm ready to finish yesterday's post! It was just dragging on, and I was losing most of my motivation to write after everything that went on yesterday... it was miserably hot out, plus karate class gave everyone a grueling workout. By the time I got home, I was ready to fall over, and my blog post was the last thing on my mind. I'd rather put out good material than a long string of garbage, so without further ado, here are the last 12 songs from yesterday's list.
