Happy Halloween! I'm going to give you some quice Halloween facts! I just got back from trick-or-treating so I thought it would be festive to to do this.
Halloween is an annual holiday that takes place on October 31st. On Halloween children dress up in costumes and go door-to-door trick-or-treating. Children receive a “treat,” which usually candy. Halloween has a few names people call it. It can also be called All Hallows Eve, Witches Night, Lams wool, Snap-Apple Night and Summer’s End. Though most people call it "Halloween". Black and orange are the colors of Halloween. It is believed that the orange color represents harvest and the Fall season. The black color represents death and darkness. One of kids favorite Halloween tradition is going trick-or-treating. On Halloween night children dress up in costumes and walk around their neighborhoods going trick-or-treating. It is recorded that children starting going trick-or-treating in the U.S in 1911. Trick-or-treating became popular in the US in the 1930’s. Dressing up in Halloween costumes is another fun holiday tradition. People started wearing Halloween costumes to blend in with the supernatural beings and souls of the dead that are believed to walk the streets on Halloween night. Ashleigh

This is a quote by Roy T. Bennett, who died in 2014 and was born in 1939.He was elected chairman of the Ohio Republican Party in 1988 and remained until 2009.
Here are some examples of what this quote means: You can do what you choose to do. You choose your Attitude, Happiness, Optimism, Kindness, Giving and Respect, don't let someone boss you around, unless it's your parents or your boss from work. This quote is correct for many reasons. It is saying that you can do lots of things without being told to do it. I try to be kind, happy and giving! Everyone should be! This is saying to be happy as much as you can. It will make you feel better. Ashleigh This quote is by Maurice Switzer. "Mrs Goose, Her Book" which is his book has this quote in it. He was a writer. There wasn't a lot of information about him.
Here is an example of what this quote means: You are at a meeting talking about cars, and you say something weird, making everyone turn and look at you. That is what this quote means. It is better to stay quiet then talk and be fought a fool. I think this quote is correct. I don't use it much but i think its true. Me and my sister say some foolish things at each other. I say most of the foolish things all the time. Everyone says foolish things in there life at each other. If you get into an argument, and the other person says something that you don't have the answer for, just agree with them instead of looking like a fool in front of everyone. Ashleigh This quote is by Pierre Comeille. He was born June 6 1606 and died October 1 1684. He was a french tragedian and was considered one of the three seventeen-century french dramatists.
Here are some examples of what this quote means: It was your birthday, and your friends came, and one of them says: hey i got you some thing, remember when we did this and "bla bla bla". That is what he is talking about. If someone comes up to you and says: "Ugh, here," and hands you a bottle of medicine something like that, that would be rude. This is a quote that I think is correct. I try to be nice to everyone, so should you! I think I should end with another quote. One must be poor to know the luxury of giving -- George Eliot. Ashleigh This is a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson. He was an American essayist, lecturer, philosopher, and a poet who died April 27, 1882. He was born May 25, 1803.
This quote means if you turn angry, you won't be happy for a while, but i guess the title already says that. I'll give you an example: I sometimes get mad at my sister, and I try to calm down, though it takes awhile to be happy after arguing with her. This is a good and true quote. I try to be happy all the time because of this quote, but sometimes that slips past me. It is not good to be mad of angry. It is good to be happy! I have a saying that I made up, "happy is healthy". Im not sure it is true, but to me, it is! Ashleigh This is a quote by Robert Frost. Robert Frost was born on March 26, 1874 and died January 29, 1963. He was an American poet as well as the winner of a Congressional Gold Medal and four Pulitzer Prizes for Poetry for his poetic work and writings.
I am going to show you an example of the time I did the thing he is talking about in this quote. I was shopping with Neema (my grandmother) and I spotted a leopard blanket that I wanted, there was also a zebra blanket. I went to grab the leopard, but I wanted to change a little since I always chose my favorite animal on everything. So I chose the zebra. Now that I think about it, I'm glad that I went with the zebra blanket! It helps me sleep and is very soft! He is saying in the quote that sometimes changes can be good. I think that he has a very nice and true quote. I always try to feel happy, though sometimes it feels good to be angry or sad. Though sometimes I get annoyed at the computer and want to punch it. So how am I taking the road less traveled? Most children go to school and don't get to spend time with there parents. I am home schooled and get to spend time with my dad. Changes can be good sometimes, even if most people pick the other path. In the end, I think the home-schooled path will make all the difference! Ashleigh This is a quote is by Charles Dodgson, better known as Lewis Carroll. He was born January 27, 1832 and died January 14 1898. He was an English writer as well as a mathematician, a photographer and a Anglican deacon. He is known for being the main Author of Alice's Adventures in Wonder Land, and Through the Looking Glass.
This quote means if you don't think before you speak, you shouldn't say it at all. Here is an example of what he means: Have you ever been yelled at or laughed at because you never think of what to say, and then say something dumb? That is what he is talking about in this quote. You shouldn't say something without thinking about what your saying. I agree with this quote because I have made mistakes like this before, and I now understand what I did wrong. Lots of people say things that make them get laughed or yelled at. Me and my sister could use some work on improving with things like this. This is an example of what he means: I do math on a website on my computer called IXL. I once said that I had done 3 math on IXL, though I had only had done 1 math. I got 5 more to do. P.S. Dad thought this was funny and told me to add it in as an example if I wanted. I couldn't think of any other examples, so I added it in here. Ashleigh This is a quote from Alice in Wonderland. I am going to give you some examples of what the quote means.
This is why my dad wouldn't go back to the past: Right now, he is 53. Mom died from drinking. If he went to the past, wouldn't it be strange if an old guy came up to you and said: Your going to die if you don't stop drinking. It would be strange, but true. What if you talked to yourself and told yourself something like: the winning lottery numbers are *insert random numbers here*. That would be cool, but if you went back to the present, your whole life would be changed! I agree with his choice If he became rich, I probably wouldn't be born! That is his choice and my choice. Ashleigh The fox is the smallest member of the dog family, although it also has many similarities with cats – such as vertical slit eyes and retractable claws. They also hunt like a cat, stalking their prey and playing with it before killing it.
Foxes are known to be friendly and curious. They play among themselves, like cats and dogs do. Although foxes are wild animals, their relationship with humans goes way back. Foxes have small tummies so they eat many small meals every day. They eat just about anything close to mice, rabbits squirrels, birds, bugs and lizards. Foxes live all over North America. They adapt very easily and can manage in a dense forest or a suburban neighborhood. They make their home under sheds, in the hollow of trees, in ground burrows, and in wood piles. Ashleigh Horses are found in almost every country in the world and every continent except Antarctica.
Some horses are trained for racing, others for showing or for dancing and acrobatics. The famous Lipizzan Stallions are known for their ability to perform and to entertain. They are a breed of horse from Europe celebrated for their white coat and their ability to jump and dance. Horses are not color blind they have two-color, visions. In other words, horses naturally see the blue and green color of the spectrum and the color variations based upon them, but cannot distinguish red. Depending on breed, management and environment, the modern domestic horse has a life expectancy of 25 to 30 years. Uncommonly, a few animals live into their 40s and, occasionally, beyond. The oldest verifiable record was "Old Billy", a 19th-century horse that lived to the age of 62. Horses are not jealous of achievements or advantages but they can be possessive and protective of their food, space, herd position, attention etc. Horses often seem to become jealous when a horse (or pony) has been in the same family for a long time and probably been the only horse. Ashleigh Ducks live in both fresh water and sea water and found on every continent except for Antarctica. A male duck is called a drake, a female duck a hen, and a baby duck a duckling. Ducks are omnivores which means they feed on aquatic plants, small fish, insects, worms, grubs and other things.
Ducks are sometimes called waterfowls, because they are usually found near bodies of water, like rivers, streams, and lakes. They are related to the geese and swan, two other waterfowls, which look similar to ducks. Ducks have webbed feet which are designed for helping them swim. Ducks, like most animals, are useful to humans. They provide us with eggs and meat. Some ducks provide us with feathers are used for stuffing quilts and pillows. After sight, hearing is perhaps the second most important sense to ducks and geese. Waterfowl rely on their hearing to maintain contact with mates and their duckling, even in noisy flocks. Hearing may be used by diving waterfowl to locate food. Ashleigh Polar bears have thick fur and have a layer of fat, known as blubber, that protects their bodies from the frosty air and near-freezing water. Polar bears even have black skin below their shiny coat, that helps them take in the Sun’s rays and keep heat.
Despite their size and bulk, polar bears area unit wonderful swimmers, and are noticed in waters over a hundred km offshore. They'll will swim at around ten km with their slightly webbed and then come back to shore. Although smart swimmers, polar bears aren’t fast enough to dependably catch seals in open water. Instead, they rely upon the ice as a looking platform. They wait close to seal respiratory holes or at the ice’s edge for a seal to surface. Female polar bears provide birth to their cubs in snow dens in October or December. At birth, the cubs are 30 cm long and weigh around 0.5.The cubs come out from the den 4 to 5 months later. The cubs will stick with their mother for 2 years, which throughout, they learn the abilities required to survive within the Arctic. Ashleigh The life of a honey bee depends on the kind of bee it is. Drone bees live for around eight weeks. Sterile worker bees tend to live up to 6 weeks throughout summer and 5 months throughout winter.
Bees play an important role in pollinating flowers. Impregnation is that the approach during which the male a part of a flower reaches the feminine part in order that a brand new plant will grow. Some insects, bees enclosed, have a heart associate degrees an artery (the vessel leading out of the heart) that pumps the blood and provides it some semblance of direction (from the rear of the insect to the front), however on the far side that there's no cardiovascular system. the guts floats within the hemolymph at the side of everything else Bees may be trained to acknowledge human faces, farewell because the insects are tricked into thinking that the faces are oddly formed flowers. The insects use the arrangement of face expression to acknowledge and distinguish one face from another. Ashleigh |
