Today I read a new book called Junie B. jones and that meanie Jim's birthday. One day at a birthday party a girl named Junie B. Jones accidentally got cake on Lucille's new dress. On the way home that Jim and Junie B. had a talk, and yell.
When she got home she told mom what happened. Then her grandpa called and they talked. Then her grandpa told her he was going to be fixing the toilet. Let us go to the store said her mom. So Junie B. went to the store with her mom. They bought a tool belt for Jim's birthday but returned it. Then her mom came in. She told her that she did not have to take bath. Or go the Jim's birthday party. You can go to your grandpa's house. So she did. Ashleigh

"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."
I was searching for a quote to write about today, and I decided I'd go through quotes about change, in honor of my dad and I beginning our diets to alter our lifestyles for the better. In fact, I was going to write about that to make this post- but after finding the above quote, my thoughts have shifted and I instead want to give my opinion on the quote. First and foremost, I agree with the quote wholeheartedly. Change is obviously what drives progress, and change begins with personal decision in almost every case. I've written before about people who say they want to do something, but lack the drive to- so they set their sights too high, and get discouraged when they don't see immediate results. Any goal, any large goal you set in life, is likely to come slowly and be composed of many smaller goals. Weight loss and diet are an excellent example of this. Most people, when they set out to lose weight, have a goal weight in mind. It's usually anywhere from 20-50 lbs, and when people begin dieting or exercising... they get frustrated when they don't see immediate results. Losing that much weight takes months if not years of a healthy diet and a good workout regimen. You can't expect automatic results in the first week... and if you see those results, you're likely eating unhealthily. That's besides the point. My point is that most people get fed up and stop their diet, thinking it won't work. Worse are the people who eat unhealthily to the point that it damages their body, or their vital organs... and refuse to change. It's like knowing that putting your hand on the hot stove is going to hurt, but doing it anyway. This is an example of people refusing to change their minds... or more accurately, refusing to let go of their bad habits for a healthier lifestyle. When I was 3 or 4, I asked my dad to give up smoking cigars because when I played with him, he always smelled of smoke. While I do like the smell of smoke now, my younger self found it bothersome and thank goodness for it, because on my birthday I asked him to give up smoking for me. He hasn't smoked a cigar since. He made a conscious decision to stop smoking for me, and in doing so he improved his lifestyle. He made a change in his thinking, and also in how he lived and it was definitely for the better. "The first step towards change is awareness. The second step is acceptance." - Maddie Today I read a new called ''Cam Jansen and the mystery at the Haunted House.'' One day 10 year old Cam, and Eric where in a amusement park. Just then Cam's Aunt Katie nocked into 2 teenage boys who Stoll cam's Aunt's wallet. They tried to catch them but they where to tiered. So they went in the haunted house.
When they where in cam relisted that man dressed in black stole them. So they told the officer and they caught him. Then cam got 4 tickets for the next time she was to go to that amusement park. Ash;eigh All spiders are eight-legged creatures that have silk at the back ends of their bodies. Spiders come in all sizes. Form little, to medium, to BIG. Tarantulas are very big poisons spiders. There are also Wolf spiders.
Don't forget about the black spider. A black spider looks like a normal spider but it is not. It is a very black spider. Not one color but black. Spiders are fun to look at but I don't want to be one. Ashleigh “Accomplishments don’t erase shame, hatred, cruelty, silence, ignorance, discrimination, low self-esteem or immorality. It covers it up, with a creative version of pride and ego. Only restitution, forgiving yourself and others, compassion, repentance and living with dignity will ever erase the past.”
I found this quote while scrolling through my tumblr dashboard, and found it to be such an honest quote that I wanted to share it with our readers... along with my own thoughts about it. So many people dwell on the past, and how they can possibly change it. But in doing so, I believe that so many people fail to see that the best way to account for past mistakes is to avoid making them in the future- but so many people are drowned in their own past that they waste their life away making the same mistakes, time and time again. Throughout my 15 years on this earth, I've met a few different types of people and very few have noticeably changed for the better. If anything, as I've gotten older... I've seen good people turn cold, bitter, and hateful towards the world and anyone who ever showed a spot of care to them. All these people, mind you, have heavily reflected on their past. All of them talked to me endlessly about their past mistakes, and how they wish they could've altered their choices. Sadly, they forgot that the best way to alter the past is to not create an awful past for your future self to look back on with horrible decisions in the present! Alright, I'll put myself a bit back on track with the quote now. I'm sure you see my point here- dwelling in the past can't change it and often only clouds future perception. However, this only touches a piece of the quote I used. The second half of my thoughts are as follows. Of the embittered people who have fallen away from my life recently, I can say that I do not regret losing any of them. Where accomplishments cannot mask a horrible person, neither can a happy past. Most seemed surprised that I no longer wished to spend time with them as the divide was slowly created... failing to see their own change of character. I suppose I've changed too, but that's besides the point. All the happy memories in the world won't change a crude reality, and the crude reality so happens to be that good people change. Choices pile up, both good and bad... and ultimately, the poor decisions outweighed the good ones. Going forward, I ask my readers to remember this quote. Accomplishment in and of itself can't erase horrible behavior... in the past, or the future. - Maddie Today I read a new book called ''The Boxcar Children.''
One night 4 kids named Benny, Violet, Jessie, and Henry stood in front of a bakery. Violet was 10. Had brown eyes and hair. Benny was 5. He was also the littlest of them all. Jessie was the biggest girl of them all. She was about 12. Henry was 12 too. He was the biggest boy. He we also the fastest. The cook saw them and asked if they had a family. Henry answered there dead. So the cook let them stay for the night. Violet, and Benny went to sleep on benches. Jessie, and Henry heard the cook talking to the baker about getting rid of Benny. So they woke Violet, picked up Benny and took some bread and hit the road. When Benny woke up they told him what happened. Soon they found a hay stack and slept there. When they woke up they went looking for a place to stay. Finally Jessie found an old boxcar and they made it into their home. One day Henry went to get a job. While he was gone, Jessie found a puppy with a thorn in his foot. Jessie gently pushed it out. When Henry came back he saw the dog named Watch. Jessie told him all about it. The next day Henry went to work Jessie, Benny, and Violet went to the dump. They found cups, plates, forks, and knives. When Henry came back from Mrs. Moore's house, he sat down for a nice dinner. Everything went well until Violet got sick. A little later there grandfather came to see if she was feeling better. She was. When she was 100 percent better, they went to their grandfather's house. There they stayed happy forever. Ashleigh
"if we remembered every day that we could lose someone at any moment, we would love them more fiercely and freely, and without fear- not because there is nothing to lose, but because everything can always be lost." After a long hiatus, I am back to writing on a daily basis... hopefully. Since my last post, a great deal of things have happened- the most notable being the death of my grandmother. Before I continue any further with this post, I'd like to write about her death and a little bit about her as a person, seeing as I haven't in awhile and much has changed. Maybe these following thoughts will end up being my entire post. I guess I'll know by the end of them.
While my grandmother and I may not have had the best of relationships at times, we both prided each other on our everlasting quality of forgiveness. Oftentimes after an argument, my grandma would come over to me and say she was thankful that we both shared "the same forgiving heart". I've talked previously about the capacity of forgiveness I have, and how it's almost a fatal flaw of mine- and while I couldn't see it then, in retrospect, I see that I did indeed inherit that quality from her. I was awful to her at some points, and some of our arguments would bring us neck and neck; regardless, she always forgave me, and I, her. In the end, I am glad we found peace. One of the last conversations I had with her before she really fell into that state of not being able to talk before her death was an apology, and while few people will write about a last conversation with a loved one as they feel it is too personal, I disagree. If anyone can learn from me, I'd want them to. The last conversation I had with my grandma, I sat on her bed as I had many times before when we used to chat and I told her that I forgave her for everything. I wanted her to know that anything she thought may have been left without resolve, I had moved on from. Reflecting on one of my dad's old posts, he was right. When you're dying, you don't care about the pettier things in life- i.e., who folded laundry or left an extra plate on the counter. In death, I think you only care about leaving in peace. And I wanted to make sure my grandma had that peace. She too apologized, and I gave her a kiss on the forehead. I then told her I loved her, and promised I'd try to do my best by my sister. She nodded, and said she loved me too. The last coherent thing I remember her saying to me was "I'll see you in heaven", as I told her I loved her and exited the room. After that point, I really don't think I was meant to speak with her again. Her replies became shorter, as did her breathing. Every time I left her room, I told her I loved her- a habit instilled in me by my dad, so that the last thing she'd hear was "I love you", should she die before one of us returned. She'd reply when she could, but the grandma I knew was gone- replaced by the frail shell that her cancer had left her. All her energy was drained, and it was time for her to rest. On May 6th in the earliest morning hours, my grandma passed away. She was surrounded by me, my dad, and my aunt- my aunt and dad holding each of her hands, and me with my hand on her forehead. It was what she would've wanted- if anything. She was determined to live her last days at home, as her obituary says- and she did indeed. While I know she would've wanted more time with the family before she passed, she did the best with the time she was given. While she was here, she made a great impact on the lives of many- and for that, she will never be forgotten. Rest in peace. -- maddie Dogs will eat almost anything. Anything but grapes, and chocolate. All dogs are mammals. Dogs can't see very well. They only see in black and white.
Dogs come in many colors: gold, gray, silver, white, brown and black. Dogs always half to wear a collar or you will see them in the dog pound. Dogs are cute. Ashleigh Today I'm going to tell you about seahorses.
Seahorses need to eat almost constantly, as they don't have a stomach, so food passes through them very quickly. Seahorses do not have teeth. They don't need teeth. They suck in their food and swallow it whole. Seahorses feed on plankton, small fish, and shrimp. A seahorse has no stomach, meaning that they need to eat almost constantly. Actually an adult seahorse will eat 30-50 times per day, while baby seahorses eat 3,000 pieces of food per day.A seahorse's neck is well adapted for catching prey. Seahorses ambush their prey by hovering silently nearby, attached to plants or corals. Seahorses also can blend in with their surroundings. Suddenly, the seahorse will tilt its head and slurp in its prey. This movement results in a distinctive sound. Seahorses don’t have scales even though they look like they do. They swim upright that is very different from other aquatic life. They aren’t related to any real horses but the name makes it sound that there is a horse in the sea. Seahorses have a small crown on them called a coral net. It is unique for each of them. They don’t swim very well but rely on the dorsal fin to help them move. The two eyes of a seahorse are able to move independently of each other. The two eyes of a seahorse are able to move independently of each other. The male seahorse is the one that will carry the eggs. He will have them in his body for up to 45 days and then they will emerge full grown. Less than 1% of all young survive to the age of maturity. This could be why the female will deposit up to 1,500 eggs into the male during the mating process. The seahorse doesn’t do well in high levels. In spite of this fact many people continue to keep them as pets. More than 20 million seahorses are caught annually to be used for Chinese forms of medicine. Ashleigh Today I'm going to tell you about Dolphins.
Dolphins are very intelligent and they seem to be well loved by humans. This aquatic mammal has been able to fascinate us in a variety of ways. They are curious, form strong bonds within their pod, and they have been known to help humans in a variety of circumstances including rescues and with fishing. There are 43 different species of dolphins that have been recognized. 38 of them are marine dolphins which are those that we are the most aware of and 5 of them are river dolphins. It can be very interesting to look at each of these species uniquely versus dolphins as a whole. They are very entertaining due to the leaps that they make out of the water. Some of them leap up to 30 feet in the air as they do so. They have to come to the surface to for water at different intervals to get air. This can be from 20 seconds to 30 minutes between when they get air. The body of the dolphin is grayish blue and the skin is very sensitive to human touch and to other elements that could be in the water. Even though dolphins have 100 teeth, they don’t use them for eating. They do use them to get the fish though and then they swallow them. They can consume up to 30 pounds fish per day. They usually work as a team in their pod to get the school of fish surrounded and balled up. From there, they can plow through the middle and eat plenty as they do so. Most of the species of dolphins live in saltwater but there are some that are able to do well in the freshwater locations. They are mainly found in the freshwater of the Amazon River. They are easily seen by humans as they tend to stick to the swallow locations of the water. It is amazing the difference in size of the various species of dolphins. The larger ones can weigh about 11 tons and be close to 30 feet long. The smaller ones are about 90 pounds and 4 feet long. Between those two spectrums you will find all weights and lengths. The species as well as their location play a huge role in their overall size.Even though we have plenty of information about dolphins today, there are plenty of questions that remain about their past. There are theories of evolution and even some fossil remains that have surfaced to give clues. It is believed that millions of years ago the dolphins were much smaller than they are today. Many experts also believe that echolocation is a result of the evolution process. Only time and advances in technology though will help us to get definite answers about the evolution of dolphins. The future is at risk for the various species of dolphins though due to habitat destruction, problems finding food, pollutants in the water, and even injuries or death due to getting tangled up in fishing nets or hitting boats in the water. There are conservation efforts in place out there to help protect them so that they can have a very good future. Ashleigh Today I want to tell you about three types of whales. OrcasOrcas are often called killer whales. Though they don't attack humans, this name is still well-chosen due to the animal's ability to take down large marine animals, such as sea lions and whales. In fact, orcas will prey on almost any animal they find in the sea, in the air over the water or along the coastline. To hunt, killer whales use their massive teeth, which can grow up to 4 inches and (10 centimeters) long.Orcas are known for their long dorsal fin (the fin on the animal's back) and black-and-white coloring. Just behind the dorsal fin is a patch of gray called a "saddle" — because it looks like a riding saddle. An orca's body is cylindrical and tapers at both ends to form an aerodynamic shape. According to National Geographic, orcas are considered the largest species of the dolphin family. They weigh up to 6 tons and grow to 23 to 32 feet. That is almost as long as a school bus. The largest orca ever recorded was 32 feet (9.8 m) long, according to Sea World Killer whales are the most widely distributed mammals other than humans, according to Sea World. They live in the oceans and seas surrounding most coastal countries. They adapt very well to any climate. For example, they can live in the warm waters near the equator or the icy waters of the North and South Pole regions. For example, they can live in the warm waters near the equator or the icy waters of the North and South Pole regions. Orcas are more likely to be found at higher latitudes and near the shore. Blue WhalesThe blue whale is a large marine mammal that is part of the baleen whale suborder and is the largest animal alive growing to lengths of up to 100 ft.long and weighing as much as 150 tons or more.In addition to the blue whales massive size it is also one of the loudest animals in existence. In fact a blue whales calls can be heard several miles away and far below the oceans surface. Despite being the largest animal on earth the blue whales primary diet consists of krill, a small aquatic life form that resembles tiny shrimp. In addition to the blue whales massive size it is also one of the loudest animals in existence. In fact a blue whales calls can be heard several miles away and far below the oceans surface. Due to their large size these marine mammals are rarely ever attacked. Other than humans that hunted blue whales during the whaling era the only known predator to the blue whale is a pack of hungry killer whale however these attacks appear to be rare and rarely successful. Gray WhaleThe Gray Whale is one that people seem to be able to identify when they are looking into the ocean. They have some characteristics that make them quite familiar in various ways. They can grow to be more than 50 feet long and to weigh more than 36 tons. You will notice whiskers by their mouths. They are in place to help them to sense what is going on around them.
You will generally notice that the Gray Whale lives in small groups but sometimes they can form large pods. They don’t stay with the same group all their life though. Instead they form very loose bonds and move on to other groups later on.They are often seen diving out of the waters at amazing speeds. Researchers believe this process helps to remove parasites from their bodies. They also engage in a type of behavior where they only lift their heads out of the water. They arch their head back as if they are soaking up the sun or they are curious about something. Today I read a new book called ''Pirates Don't Wear Pink Sunglasses.'' One day Liza, Howie, Melody, and Eddie were at a school. Two guys named Mr. Jenkins, and Teach. They soon found out Teach was a pirate, and the other guy was a wolf. Teach did help them a little.
Then he was racing after them. After that they pulled out there boats and found a hole. They also found some wolf tracks. Then as teach came out of the bushes they ran in the water and grabbed there boat. BOOM! Teach's boat went and sank. As the kids got on the dock They saw the wolf and three other people. He was going to sell the camp. That was the end of that. Ashleigh The three sports are baseball, football, and basketball. One of the sports has lines on it. The other one has spots. The last one has some kind of red, bumpy, line.
I like baseball. When dad was younger he played football. I don't think that was wise. Though I would have done it too. I don't know why. Ashleigh Today I read a new book called '' Magic Tree house Mummies in the Morning. One day in the tree house Jack and Annie found a book about Egypt. They went there and found a little cat. It had a gold collar on. Then it ran away and disappeared.
When they were in the pyramid, they met a Ghost Queen. The Ghost Queen needed their help. She told them they needed to find the book of dead. They found stars, a jug, a boat, and a cloth. That is then they found the book. They found the ghost queen too! Well, she was not much when they found her. Then they got lost but found each other. Then they found a door that took them to the tree house. Ashleigh Grandma is going to die soon. She has cancer. She is sleeping a lot now, and is very weak. She is not eating much either. My Dad is taking car of her.
I'll miss Grandma. She plays cards with me, She walks with me, she also helps me. Ashleigh |
