North Dakota was put as the 39th state on November 2, 1889. Its capital is Bismarck, and its largest city is Fargo. The world’s largest hamburger was eaten in North Dakota. North Dakota grows more sunflowers than any other state. Dakota is the Sioux word for “friend” or “ally. In 1624 a colony was established on Manhattan island by the Dutch. They named it New Amsterdam. The British renamed it New York in 1664. After the American Revolution in 1776, New York became a U.S. colony, and then a state in 1788. One year later, George Washington was sworn in as the first president of the United States in New York City. New York was the country’s first capital. The capital would move to Washington D.C. in 1790. New York's nickname is the Empire State because George Washington liked to call New York “the seat of the Empire. ”New York borders Canada and Lake Ontario in the north, and Pennsylvania, and New Jersey in the south. In the west, it is bordered by Lake Eerie, and Connecticut, and by Massachusetts, and Vermont in the east. The St. Lawrence-Champlain Lowland runs along the edge of Adirondack Mountains and the Canadian border. New York to Canada is a long ride, but connect borders. New York’s highest peak, called Mount Marcy is 5343 feet (1629m)! It includes the sandy beaches and bays of Staten Island and Long Island. There are many species of animals that live in New York including: black bears, bobcats, white-tail deer and moose. Smaller animals include: weasels, raccoons, squirrels and skunks. Lots of birds also live in New York, such as turkey, eagles and falcons. Smaller birds too, such as blue jays, cardinals, and woodpeckers. Famous politicians from New York include U.S. presidents Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy. The capital city of New York State is Albany. It became New York's capital in 1797. Albany is the central city of New York's Capital. It is roughly 150 miles or 240 km north of New York City. The biggest city in the state is easy... Both my Dad and my aunt went to Trenton State College, which is actually located outside of Trenton in Ewing New Jersey. North Jersey has the most shopping malls in one area in the world with seven major shopping malls in a 25 sq. The tallest water tower in the world, the Union Watersphere, is located in Union. The first Indian reservation was in New Jersey. New Jersey has 108 toxic waste dumps. Which is the most in any one state in the nation. New Jersey has 21 counties. New Jersey has the most dense system of highways and railroads in the U.S. Ashleigh New Hampshire is the first of the 13 original colonies to declare its independence from England. It declared its independence a full six months before the Declaration of Independence was signed Given it was the first New Hampshire’s delegates were given the honor of being the first to vote for the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

Music, comedy, dance and theater are performed there.The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is a science museum with interactive space-themed exhibits and a planetarium. Another first which happened in the state is the fact that the very first potato planted in America took seed in Nutfield, New Hampshire (now known as Derry). Another interesting first is that the first public library in the United States was founded in 1833 in Peterborough, New Hampshire. This town is only a few miles from our house!. New Hampshire was was named by Captain John Mason after Hampshire England. The winters are long and often severely cold. The summers are pleasantly warm, especially in the southern part of the state. At Concord, average temperatures vary from about 21° F (–6° C) in January to about 70° F (21° C) in July; the average annual temperature is about 46° F (8° C).
