As always, my writing began with a search for good writing prompts to set me on my way. I like taking the ideas of others and seeing what I can make with them! Typically, my posts used to give my thoughts on quotes- I decided to branch off from that, and I think this is a good place to start. Today, I'm going to be writing about a short-term plan for myself and a long-term plan for myself- in the way of life, that is. Previously, I've gone into slight detail about what I wish to do with my future- I'll tie it all together in this post.
Short-term plan In the short-term, I'm looking at a busy school year and hopefully, starting driver's ed. I'll be taking roughly 10 college courses to get a head-start on my Associate's degree credits, and I'm probably going to take an extra few courses over the next summer. Somewhere along the line, I'd like to get a job once I have my license so I can pull in some money for myself. I've been considering working at local grocery stores, or even convenience stores in the area. If that doesn't work, I may try working at a fast-food restaurant just so I have SOME work experience under my belt before I go to college. Hopefully, I can find an affordable pickup truck that can support a plow- if I do that, then I can attach a plow to my truck and use that as a source of income during the winter. In NH, many people need snow-plowing service since most people work in the city and come home to snowed-in driveways, so it'd be a good way to make easy money. Long-term plan Looking towards the future, I'll be graduating in 2019 with a Liberal Arts Associate's degree that can be applied to many different colleges. I hope to attend Franklin Pierce University, a local college about 5 minutes from my house, to finish out my four-year and hopefully get a BA in psychology. I'm considering minoring in sociology, since the two sciences go hand-in-hand. Hopefully I can get a job related to my field once I have a Bachelor's degree, so I can have a source of income while I attend a better school to get my Master's. I haven't found a school to get my Master's from yet, but I do know that I'd like to achieve a Doctorate degree at some point. After I get my Master's, I'm going to focus on securing a good job as a therapist/psychologist, preferably working for myself. Obviously, I'll start out working for someone else and branch off from there. A business management class or two may come into play somewhere along the line. I eventually do want to settle down and have a family, but I want a stable job and degree first. From there... who knows! Nothing is certain, but that's just my baseline plan for my life. Obviously, life never goes as planned and there are many bumps in the road to be accounted for along the way, but I hope that I can follow my plan (and my dream) to the best of my ability. - Maddie
