"Intelligence- not because you think you know everything without question, but because you question everything you know."
I love this quote, as I am someone who aspires to learn something new every day. I believe that no one should ever give up or stop learning- as there are countless things in life to learn or at least improve upon. I think one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone thinks they know everything, and because of this belief refuses to listen to reason. I see so many people do it around me, and I honestly commend my dad for instilling the desire to learn in me from a young age. My dad and mom raised me on the saying "you can learn something new every day", and I try to abide by it. Even if it's something small, I try to absorb SOME sort of knowledge. For example, today I learned how to apply a wristlock from a technique that doesn't usually end in a wristlock! It's a small piece of knowledge, but it was new to me nonetheless. I find that small bits of knowledge often ball together and result in one big discovery at the end of the day, or at least contribute to you learning something a lot bigger. For example, knowing how to apply this wristlock from this move could help me learn a more difficult technique farther along down the line... or on a more serious level, help me in a fight. And so learning is with many other things. Simple math tricks are memorable for when you need to learn something in geometry, or algebra. Shortcuts in baking are applicable to many different recipes. Small bits of online trivia can lead to interesting conversations, and even open up people who know more about obscure topics. A simple trick to read between the lines of a story, can inspire you to want to read deeper into the human mind... so learn everything you can. If someone has wisdom to offer you, accept it... because as my dad always say, "the years teach much that the days never knew".
