Never! A big difference between Maddie and I are the problems we have with writing daily blog posts. For Maddie, she often has trouble coming up with ideas to write about. Oftentimes, she will ask me "What should I write about today?". I usually rattle off a number of ideas for her, most of which she finds to be too much trouble to write about. She will then think about it a bit and then find a topic of her own to write about.
I have a different problem. I find too much to write about usually. While picking one isn't a problem, many of my topics are serious (to me anyway) and I don't want to bore people away from reading the blog. My second problem is finding the time to write them...particularly if I am in press with the stocks I cover for Value Line. If I am constantly writing on a serious subject, I find that it can take hours to write a post. My last two posts took me about four hours to write in total. A lot of that time dealt with finding pictures to use of the people involved. I have lots of pictures...but not all of them convey the mood I was trying to convey. One final problem I have involves technology. Last night, for instance, I spent an hour writing up a semi-serious post about learning new things. It was pretty lengthy, and I thought interesting too. Well, when I went to publish the post the website kicked out an error and wiped out my entire article. I am in press this week, so I did not have time to rewrite it. Tonight, I was still annoyed about what happened yesterday, so I decided to write about a different topic entirely. I will leave it for another day to revisit a post on learning new things! To sum it up, ideas to write about are not a problem for me. Having the time to write about my ideas properly are an issue. For my daughter, finding a good idea is sometimes a problem. Funny, we chit chat all day and I often hear good ideas that she could write about, but I guess she doesn't think about them in that way. Yesterday, for example, we spoke about a singer for a band who has a pretty voice when she decides to use it. Instead, she spends most of every song growling like Satan. I originally thought the girl had put a distortion device on her mike to get that sound. Maddie disagreed. She actually looked the girl up and found the following quote: " YES! ALL the growling in our songs, even the really low ones, are done by me. I work very hard on my throat and do not want to be discredited. NO! I DO NOT use any vocal effects whatsoever in studio or live (both me and my producer are far too stubborn to take the easy way out). Live, I use a pretty standard audio technica mic and in studio I use a Telefunken AK47. Any 'effect' you hear is actually because I took the time to write very complex harmonies and back-up vocals. NO! I do not have to make mean faces in order to scream properly. I could be smiling and screaming - the scream comes from inside and is produced way before it reaches the face. If you wanna see for yourself, just come check us out live! I hope that answers some questions - I unfortunately see lots of female growlers having to defend the fact that they growl and it's pretty ridiculous, but please don't let that be a deterrent! " Alissa White-Gluz, vocalist for THE AGONIST I've come to the conclusion that this girl may not be working with a full deck...but that is beside the point! Maddie could have made a great blog post out of screech bags and her satanic sound. Yet instead she complained she had nothing to write about. When a pretty young girl can convince an almost 50 year old guy that she is possibly possessed by Satan, that is something to write about! Why my daughter couldn't see this is beyond me! To make matters worse, my daughter had already spent the time to do some research on this chick (if for no other reason than to prove me wrong). By the way, the Agonist was the right name for this group, because it was agony listening to that satanic voice coming out of that reasonably attractive singer. The man who marries her is going to have a very bizarre wedding night! My daughter has put up a video of the band in question on one of her recent blog posts. Go watch the video...and then try to picture her wedding night...I don't know about you, but I almost just laughed out loud!
